Focus “Vietnam has about 6,000 textile and garment manufacturing enterprises with over two million employees and providing job opportunities for over one million workers in relevant industries”. As one of important textile exporters in Asia, Vietnam exportsincreasingly value of textiles and garments to the biggest export market, the U.S.A., which followed by Europe, Japan and South Korea. This year, Vietnam’s textile and garment industry has targeted a growth in exports of 6.5-7 per cent to US$30 billion. Vietnam’s textile and apparel industry benefits from several reasons, like the workforce with high quality but low wage, series of Free Trade Agreements, long-term, sustained, preferential investment policy and etc.. However, the textile and apparel industry in Vietnam also faces some challenges. First, the long-term impact of TPP’s end is still unknown. Second, more than half of the garment raw materials of Vietnam depend on import. Third, the logistics conditions also need improvements. Furthermore, international buyers want to find more qualified manufacturers, and suppliers in Vietnamwant to improve their efficiency and quality, as well as to attract more clients. Challenges above will be discussed in this summit. We hope to help answer delegates’ questions about Vietnam textile industry and to make our efforts to promote the industry.
